ACCORD
The African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) is a non-governmental organization working throughout Africa to bring creative solutions to the challenges posed by conflict on the continent. ACCORD’s primary aim is to influence political developments by bringing conflict resolution, dialogue and institutional development to the forefront as an alternative to armed violence and protracted conflict.

About the author
Daniel R. Forti is currently an undergraduate student at Duke University in North Carolina, USA, and is on schedule to graduate in May 2012. He is earning his AB in Public Policy Studies from the Terry Sanford School of Public Policy, as well as a minor in African and African American Studies. Mr. Forti was a research intern for ACCORD’s Knowledge Production Department from May to August 2011. This paper was written as a component of his research internship.
